Hi, I’m Aleatha — Louisiana fiber artist, handspinner, weaver, natural dyer, and the maker behind Spindle and Spoon.

I create handwoven textiles, naturally dyed yarns, and thoughtfully prepared fiber art supplies. Many of the fibers I work with are grown close to home here in Louisiana, including local wool, cotton, and angora from my own rabbits.

My work begins long before the finished piece. I source fibers from small Louisiana farms, raise angora rabbits here at home, grow natural dye plants in my garden, and work with these materials through processes like dyeing, blending, spinning, and weaving. I’m especially drawn to fibers with a sense of place — Gulf Coast wool, Acadian Brown Cotton, and my homegrown angora.

Through my shop, I offer:

I also share tutorials, recipes, and seasonal homemaking inspiration for those who want to bring more creativity and intention into everyday life. From natural dye experiments to from-scratch cooking, my hope is to encourage others to slow down and enjoy the satisfaction of making things by hand.

Much of my work centers around supporting regional fibersheds and helping preserve small-scale textile traditions. I’m passionate about connecting people with the origins of their materials and supporting farmers and artisans who are building a more local, sustainable textile economy.

Whether you’re a spinner, weaver, gardener, homesteader, or simply someone drawn to beautiful handmade things, I’m glad you’re here.

Thank you for supporting Louisiana fiber farms, regional textile traditions, and slow handmade work.
