Refreshing Blueberry and Mint Lemonade Recipe
Refreshing Blueberry Mint Lemonade for Summer Days
A cool and colorful lemonade recipe that’s bursting with fresh flavor

When the warmer weather rolls in, there’s nothing better than a tall glass of homemade lemonade to cool you down. And if you’re looking for something a little more special than plain lemon and sugar, this blueberry mint lemonade is exactly what you need.
Made with fresh blueberries, fresh mint leaves, and lemon juice, this lemonade recipe brings together the perfect balance of tart, sweet, and herbal. It’s beautiful to serve, easy to make, and a fun way to use up that thriving mint plant in your garden.
Ingredients
- 1 cup packed fresh mint leaves
- 1 cup fresh blueberries
- 1 ½ cups fresh lemon juice (from about 8–10 lemons)
- 6 cups water
- 1 cup regular sugar
Step 1: Make the Blueberry Mint Syrup
In a medium saucepan, combine your blueberries, 1 cup sugar, and 2 cups water. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally with a wooden spoon until the sugar dissolves and the blueberries begin to break down—about 3 to 4 minutes.
Next, add your fresh mint leaves and boil for 1–2 more minutes. This quick boil helps create a vibrant, flavorful simple syrup infused with berry and mint goodness.

Remove the pan from heat, cover it, and let the syrup steep for at least 30 minutes. If you want a stronger minty taste, you can let it sit even longer. This step gives your lemonade that lovely cool mint flavor that makes it perfect for hot days.
Step 2: Prepare the Lemon Juice Mixture
While the syrup steeps, juice your lemons until you have 1 ½ cups lemon juice. You can use bottled lemon juice if you’re in a hurry, but fresh ingredients really make this drink shine.
Pour the lemon juice into a large pitcher and add 4 cups cold water. Give it a quick stir to blend the base of your lemonade.
Step 3: Combine and Serve
Once your syrup has finished steeping, strain it through a fine mesh strainer directly into your lemon juice mixture, discarding the mint leaves and cooked berries. Stir well to combine, then taste. Want it sweeter? Stir in a little more sugar or even some maple syrup. Too strong? Add a bit of cold water.
Pop the pitcher into the fridge for at least an hour to chill. When you’re ready to serve, pour the blueberry mint lemonade over ice cubes and garnish with extra lemon slices, mint sprigs, or a few fresh blueberries for a festive, summery touch.

Helpful Tips and Variations
- Try it sparkling: Swap some of the cold water for sparkling water or club soda to turn this into a fizzy refresher.
- Switch sweeteners: Use brown sugar or maple syrup instead of white sugar for a deeper flavor.
- Make it a mocktail: Mix with ginger ale or tonic for a more grown-up non-alcoholic drink option.
This blueberry mint lemonade is one of my favorite drink recipes for summer days. It’s pretty, flavorful, and made with a handful of fresh ingredients—what more could you want in a summer sipper?
